In 1960, Radiotelevisione Italiana assembled an ideal cast to bring Mozart and Da Ponte's Don Giovannito life. The handsome and energetic Mario Petri portrays the title role; Teresa Stich-Randall brings her angelic voice and noble bearing to the role of Donna Anna; the exquisitely pure soprano of Graziella Sciutti as Zerlina makes a perfect contrast to Leyla Gencer's more earthy and passionate singing as Elvira; the renowned tenor Luigi Alva is a dignified and sweet-voiced Ottavio; and Sesto Bruscantini is a brilliantly comic Leporello, both vocally and visually. Maestro Francesco Molinari-Pradelli leads a performance which beautifully balances the myriad moods of this unique operatic masterpiece.
